When I was in the Art Sixth I remember my art master continually cticising my post-adolescent efforts for always having "big black lines round everything".
I was a child of the Lee-Kirby generation, and to me, nothing looked quite right unless that was how it was presented. That was my entry point into the world of art. For Old Joe, though, it simply wasn't good enough and I was continually criticised.
